I recently came across an October 2007 report put out by the well respected Mayo Clinic where doctors have concluded that men with congestive heart failure can still enjoy active sex despite the widespread fear that sex would kill them! According the Mayo report men with congestive heart failure who receive frequent screening and treatment can still safely have sex. In case you didn’t know, congestive heart failure is when the heart is damaged or weakened where by it can no long pump blood efficiently. While many men with congestive heart failure might be worried that sex could put a tremendous stain on their hearts and ultimately be a fatal act, the Mayo Clinic study debunked this myth. Specifically the oxygen consumption of men with congestive heart failure during sex was the same level as moderate physical activities like doing general housework or slowly going up a flight of stairs. No doubt if sex requires such low levels of oxygen, no doubt it can’t be as lethal for men with congestive health failure.

One interesting note, scientists at the Mayo Clinic found that nearly 70 percent of the same men with congestive heart failure also suffer from erectile dysfunction. These men have E.D. because of smaller blood vessels and abnormal circulation in their body that does not properly deliver blood to their penis, preventing them from having erections. It’s reassuring to know that science research has advanced to the point where men who were men who were once frightened to enjoy good sex have been given a second change to improve the quality of their life. Once again, modern science has proven that just because you might have a heart condition or E.D. you can still enjoy your lustful side!

Too many men nowadays are too afraid to get information from their doctors and educate themselves when it comes to their sex life. It’s great that this type of research is being done to give men plagued with E.D. some hope that they too can have regular sex like everyone else. The Mayo Clinic researchers found that men with heart disease and E.D. cannot take drugs for their E.D. such as Viagra or Levitra, because the combination taking these drugs and heart related drugs can be lethal. On a positive note Mayo Clinic doctors said the E.D. in men with heart disease can be treated through a simple exercise training regimen and change of diet.
